How to Unlock Your iPod

Locked out side you iPod and can’t get in? Forgot the combination to your ipod screen lock? There is a solution! Let’s see how to unlock your ipod so you can reuse it.

If you are lucky, all you need to do is to connect the ipod to your computer. If you’ve worked with itunes on this computer, the ipod should simply unlock itself.

Didn’t work? Well, restoring your ipod to its factory settings might be the only way for you to unlock your ipod. Even though restoring it would erase all the content, you can easily sync all of it from your itunes. However, any settings you had changed before will be reset.

How to Turn Shake to Shuffle Off

Shuffle is one of my favorites when listening to music. I kinda like that little suspension and surprise when the next song starts to play. But regular shuffle is not enough. One of the coolest things newer ipods have is the “shake to shuffle” feature. It’s as easy as it sounds – shake the ipod to randomly get a new song:YouTube Preview ImageIf you think your ipod touch or ipod nano is too sensitive and jumps from song to song even when you don’t mean it, you can always disable the “shake to shuffle”:

  1. From the ipod’s home page go to Settings
  2. Go to Music
  3. Find “Shake to Shuffle” and turn it off.

Restoring an iPod to its Factory Settings

Even though restoring an ipod to factory setting would erase all the content on it, don’t worry. You can easily sync anything you want from your itunes. However, any settings you had changed on the ipod will be reset.

Restoring the iPod’s Factory Settings

Sometimes things just stop working! I know, this could get really annoying, but it’s important to know that when everything else fails (reseting, refreshing, and so on), your last resort it to restore your ipod to its factory settings.

But it is VERY IMPORTANT to remember. Restoring your ipod will ERASE all the content you have on your ipod! So make sure it is well backed up in iTunes, and that you can sync all of it once the ipod is restored.

Restoring the ipod’s factory settings is very similiar to updating the ipod’s software and done from the same window. Check out the updating software step-by-step video for more instructions.
